About Taiwan visa

Procedure to apply
Prior to carrying on to the Taiwan visa application, there are certain eligibility parameters that are to be met by the applicant. The criteria will differ as per the type of visa and the purpose of the visit. These are put forth by the Taiwan Embassy to differentiate the applicants and visa applications made to the embassy so that the processing of the same is easier. The steps for the application process are given as follows:
- First of all, you can visit the official website of Taiwan Immigration.
- You can then fill out the General Visa Application form.
- When the form has been filled out correctly, download and print the form.
- Attach the photographs as per the photo specifications.
- Attach the supporting documents as per the type of the visa.
- Submit the form to the visa application centre
- Pay the required visa fee and wait for the final verification
The documents to be submitted must be in good condition and there is no need for an appointment for the submission. The completely filled and signed visa application form can be submitted directly to the Consulate or you can take help from visa agencies. You can submit the documents to your nearest branch of the visa application centre. The application form must be submitted in person.
Also, at the time of filling out the form, you need to make sure that the information provided on the visa application form checks out with the details on your passport and other documents. If there is any incorrect or unverifiable information, there are chances that the visa application may get rejected. Types of Taiwan Visa
There are different types of visa that are classified based on the purpose of the visit, the validity of the visa, number of entries and re-entries permitted, and other criteria. If you are issuing a visa for Taiwan, you must first know that you know what kind you need as per your purpose. Mainly, the Taiwan visa can be categorized as visitor and resident visas. Further classification is below:
Visitor Visa - It is mainly a short term visa that is issued for a shorter period of time. It could be for about 3 months permitting a stay of 60 days per visit. It can further be divided into two more categories -
- Single Entry - This means that once you travel to Taiwan and return, you will not be able to re-enter on the same visa again even if the visa is still valid. If you are willing to return, you will have to issue another visa again. An example of this kind of visa is a Taiwan tourist visa or even Taiwan visit visa
- Multiple Entry - With this kind of visa, you will be allowed to enter and re-enter the country multiple times. Although the permitted stay per visit will still stay the same which is 60 days. Generally, a Taiwan business visa is issued under this category.
Resident visa - These kind of visas are mainly long term. These are issued at the time when the applicant is planning onto staying in the country for a considerable period of time. Even these can be further classified into the following categories:
- Single Entry - As per this visa, once you travel to Taiwan and return, you will then be not able to re-enter the country on the same visa again. It is irrelevant to the fact that whether the visa is still valid or not. If you wish to return, you will have to issue another visa again. An example of this kind of visa is a Taiwan student visa.
- Multiple Entry - On this visa, the applicant will be allowed to enter and re-enter the Taiwan multiple times. The permitted stay per visit will differ from the visitor multiple-entry visa.
Certain cases of Taiwan work visa may fall under this category as well as a
Taiwan dependent visa.
Checklist for Taiwan Visa
There are different kinds of documents required for the issuance of a visa for Taiwan. The list will change according to the type of visa. The common Taiwan visa requirements for Indian citizens are given as follows:
- Original passport with validity at least 6 months ahead of the date of travel
- Completely filled visa application form
- Two photos as per the photo specifications
- Travel Itinerary
- Proof of confirmed travel dates - Air tickets
- Proof of sufficient funds to support your stay in Taiwan - ITR, Bank Statement
- Proof of accommodation - Invitation letter, Hotel reservation
Photo Specifications
- Two copies must be provided
- Taiwan visa photo size: 2 inches x 2 inches.
- Coloured copy must be provided.
- The face must cover about 60-70% of the frame - 32mm x 36mm.
- Head should well-centred.
- A gap of 2mm to 6mm must be kept between the top of the head and the frame.
- The picture must not be older than 6 months.
- The background must be white
- Neutral expressions
- Glasses are not permitted.
- Headgears are not allowed except for religious reasons.
- Clothing shouldn’t match the background.
