Algeria Visa Guide

Algeria is the largest African country and is a preferred destination for people from around the world. Being ruled by multiple dynasties and empires such as the Ottoman Empire, the French colonial empire, and even the Spaniards, the place is rich in history. However, to enter the country, almost all nationalities require an Algerian Visa.

 

About Algeria Visa

Except for a few of the visa-exempt countries, people from every other country require a permit to enter Algeria. It allows people to visit the country for particular purposes as per the type. The permit is issued for periods as per the consular officer. However, the short term visas are allowed for visits from 30 days in case of single-entry, to 90 days in case of multiple entries. The long term is issued for a duration of more than 90 days. They may be given for 1 year or even 2-3 years depending on the exact type.

 

Procedure to apply for an Algeria Visa

The application for an Algeria Visa for Indians can be done by following the below-mentioned procedure -

  1. Determine the type of visa you require, and also to acquire the documents that are necessary for that particular type of Algeria Visa for Indian nationals.
  2. Visit the website of the Algerian Embassy and fill in the Algeria Visa application form. The form should be filled online, and cannot be hand-written.
  3. Take a print out of the completed form, and sign in the required places.
  4. Attach your photograph to the form, and along with 2 copies of the Algeria Visa form, relevant documents, and the bank draft, submit it at the Embassy of Algeria.

Please note that alternately, you can consult any visa agency to help you with the application as it can be tasking. You will also have to ensure that you write in the correct details. And also submit the original and genuine documents. Improper applications may lead to visa delay or rejection. A visa denial may cause unnecessary complications in the future.

 

Algerian Visa types

Based on the purpose of the visit, the permits to visit the country can be classified into the following visa types -

  • Algeria Tourist Visa for the sole purpose of tourism
  • Algeria Business Visa for business-related activities such as conferences, meetings, etc
  • Work Visa - for the purpose of employment exceeding 90 days
  • Temporary Work Visa - for the purpose of employment less than 90 days
  • Algeria Visitor Visa to meet a family/friend
  • Cultural Visa- for taking part in cultural events
  • Press Visa - for reporters and crew for the purpose of journalism
     

Checklist for Algeria Visa

As per the Algeria Visa documents requirements for Indian citizens, there are specific documents required for each type of the permit. However, the standard documents required are as follows -

  • Original Indian Passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of travel, and atleast 1 blank page
  • Two recent size photographs
  • Proof of finance/invitation/relevant documents

  • Dimensions:  35mm X 45mm
  • Colour: Coloured
  • Head must occupy the central position
  • Must be captured within the last 3 months
  • Background: Solid, plain white or grey
  • Must have 80% face coverage
  • The facial expression must be neutral
  • Eyes must be directed towards the camera and wide open.
  • Glasses: prescription glasses are allowed
  • Headgears are allowed only for religious reasons
  • Facial hair is permitted
